Bossier Library Partners with La. State Bar Association and La. Library Association to Host Legal Advice Program on Oct. 27

The Bossier Library, in partnership with the Louisiana State Bar Association (LSBA) and the Louisiana Library Association (LLA), is presenting its third annual “Lawyers in Libraries” statewide program on Thursday, Oct. 27.

Attorney Dayan Ryan will present an Ask-a-Lawyer Program beginning at 11:00 am in the library’s.

The program is free and open to the public, but those interested should contact Diane Bundy (318) 746-1693 to reserve a space.

The “Lawyers in Libraries” program is part of a legal aid initiative called the Legal Education and Assistance Program (LEAP), which provides much-needed legal information and resources to the public via local libraries.

“Lawyers across the state are available to help meet the public’s legal needs. For those who cannot afford an attorney, the Louisiana State Bar Association is committed to supporting legal aid and pro bono organizations, and other services that can help people identify, understand, and pursue their legal options. The Lawyers in Libraries partnership with the Louisiana Library Association represents an important initiative to make lawyers accessible to people who need legal services without any financial obligation,” said LSBA President Darrel Papillion.

“In 2015, 125 attorneys representing all 64 parishes in the state provided direct assistance to their communities by participating in the ‘Lawyers in Libraries’ program. Based on this success, we expect even more of our members to participate in this year’s day of service, and assist hundreds of Louisiana residents.” added Papillion.

The “Lawyers in Libraries” initiative was designed in partnership with the LLA, Law Library of Louisiana, LSU Law Library, and other partners.
